Asus ROG Strix GL553VD Review

The new era of budget gaming laptops has arrived and the trend has been seen a sharp increase, due to gamers wanting to be able to game in any location, on smaller machines but still keep their money in their pocket.

The ROG Strix GL553VD comes with some amazing new high quality components such as the 7700HQ processor. This processor developed by Intel, who are known to be the best cpu producers in the world, comes with a vast array of new sandybridge, ivy bridge and all kinds of new processing power. We have now over 3.5GHz of processing power spread over 4 cores, and used to help the laptop compute basic functions during gameplay. Although the CPU wont be able to handle graphics intensive games on it’s own, it can definitely handle the multi tasking that many of us gamers do, such as watching youtube videos while gaming, or developing some new code.

Alongside the new processor comes the GTX 1050 graphics card. Made by nVidia it really is the best you can find, it produces amazing colors, shapes and textures on your screen, that can only be described as mind blowing. I have had a hands on with this graphics card at CES and I was thrilled that its now available in this budget laptop the GL553VD.

The GL553VD comes with a 15 inch display and some other cool features such as a disk tray, and a laptop holder. I always get annoyed that I have to carry around my laptop all the time such as when I visit the offices of my gaming friends and want to bring my laptop with me, so having the case holder will be great for transportation.

This release is not the only one, as we can see that thetechinsiders gaming laptop reviews also has the Acer Aspire VX 15 there and some other laptops from Lenovo and Dell.
